Premiere of Two Choral Works

Vigil for Iraq, Poetry and Choral Music

An evening concert of music and poetry by local artists honoring the
dead, the wounded, the grieving, and the dispossessed. The show will
feature two new choral works Prayer for Iraq by David Rounds and Three
Fingers of Light by David Smith. In each case the lyrics were co-
written in collaboration with fine poets: David Smith-Ferri & David
Rounds, and Theresa Whitehill & David Smith.

The Ukiah Valley Madrigal Singers will be singing, and Benj Thomas
will narrate. Clovice Lewis, Jeff Ives and Burton Segall will play the
viola, cello and bass in Three Fingers of Light. David Smith-Ferri and
Theresa Whitehill will read as well.

Friday, October 16 at the Ukiah Players Theater, 1041 Low Gap Road,
7:30 p.m.

ukiahaiku festival 2009

Ukiah California is the obvious location for a Haiku festival, and
thus it is. The Seventh Annual Festival was last Sunday with 1581 entries. Kindergarten to adult, mostly local, but with submissions from 14 states and 10 countries. Here in my town!
